The heathens is a collection of poems that explores womanhood from an eccentric narrative that has remained untold. It celebrates love, rage, and coming of age in a fiercely feminist retelling of stories to which we have all been privy. Inspired by women in mythology and the author’s own life, each poem tells a new tale of hope, despair, and resilience. To quote from the book, each poem is characterized by “an unapologetic fervour often mistaken as apathy by man.”

Note  from the author

The heathens is an intensive labor of love, and I can only hope that I have been able to pay my homage to womanhood in all its flawed beauty. It is a love letter to every woman who has inspired, loved, and helped me grow into the person I am today. I hope you feel my poems are worth a read and consider delving into a world of emotions that came from a very vulnerable stage in my life.

About the Author

Ritobrita is currently a student in class 10 with a penchant for literature, poetry, and music. She writes, "Poetry, I feel, is the subtle exchange of innuendoes between life and death, juxtaposed by the subtle complexities in the human psyche. It has been my favorite form of expression for a long time and, I never fail to find myself at home between the imperfect world of metaphors and measured syllables."
