Ethereal Strands is a collection of poems on intellectual passion that describes the fervent love, longing and desires the soul encounters when the intellect is aroused. It is a deep longing to find a kindred spirit — one who understands the craving just as much, and is able to reciprocate the feeling of love. The lover pines for the beloved, imagines the comfort and warmth of caress and longs to be in their arms. There are times when the harsh reality strips away the feeling of bliss — but it is then that one discovers that love lies within one’s soul.

These poems were written at a time when the author herself was confronted with her passion towards her vocation and craved to find a kindred spirit. Some days the mind would love the task at hand, and on others would feel neglected — as if the love were lost. The process of rediscovery of the self, and the willingness to continue in spite of obstacles gave the feeling of being reborn and helped to understand and feel the passion and be at peace with oneself.

The poems have an inherent abstractness in them depicting joy and exultation on one hand and deep sorrow, remorse and carelessness on the other – it is this balance of ecstasy and grief that soul lives through and is born again and again, as if a different being.

The paintings in this collection are inspired by Japanese wash and sumi techniques and help to express the emotion.
