Rituparna Khan’s debut novella, ‘Homecoming’ portrays the author’s lucid narrative style where life tells us multidimensional stories that help us to be born, to thrive, to live, to die, to re-live and to move on. It encompasses stories of diaspora, human, non-human and inhuman aspects of our subcontinent and beyond that. This work is an honest effort to capture the pulse and soul of the people of Indian subcontinent as well as to portray the inbuilt harmony beyond all superficial differences.

Rituparna Khan is a young academic and poet. This is her first foray into the world of story-telling, in the form of a novella, titled ‘Homecoming’. The story revolves round a few characters, Ujjaini, Usnish, Pratyusha, Anandi, Umar Khalid, Samik, Ahsaan et al. This is an absorbing story of human relations, kindness, treachery, magnanimity and fellow feeling. The story runs from Kolkata to USA to Pakistan and to the heart of every reader due to its passionate and gripping style which reveals the gloomy and brighter sides of human character.
