A unique travelogue on Tajikistan, with pictures.
A scholar of history and an experienced teacher, Nandini Bhattacharya provides a historical backdrop to each of her personal experiences during her research on ‘Indo-Tajik cultural links’ – be that in human interactions, or cultural exposure which she encountered while she was collecting research material. In her simple story-telling style she presents a land, not so well-known to common people even in this globalized ега.
Although her experiences are based on historical knowledge and contemporary understanding, she avoids difficult words or expressions which would have made the text unintelligible and full of jargon.
Her travelogue is more than a simple travel guide – rather it might cater to the demands of social science, from an unconventional perspective. Past and present history of the land is craftily embedded within each of her personal anecdotes.
The travelogue, written in its unique style, documents a less publicised part of the erstwhile USSR.
