Pradosh Paul's practice as a painter reflects a sustained exploration of form, colour, and texture, with a distinct emphasis on form and colour as defining elements of the visual field. From the very beginning, he has consciously avoided the merely decorative or superficially attractive. His work does not celebrate idealised beauty; instead, it offers an unflinching engagement with the fractured realities of the world around us.

Regularly engaged in painting, Pradosh Paul has held six solo exhibitions across Kolkata, Delhi, and Mumbai, along with participation in more than 80 group exhibitions. Internationally, he has been part of group exhibitions in England, America, Belgium, and Dubai.

He served for 12 years as a teacher in the Visual Arts Department at the Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata, contributing significantly to art education and mentorship. From 2018 to 2020, he was awarded and completed the prestigious Senior Fellowship from the Government of India. He is currently a member of the Painters Eighty Group.

His works form part of permanent collections at prominent institutions including the Town Hall, Kolkata; Tin Murti Bhavan, Delhi; the Parliament Museum; the Jawaharlal Nehru Agriculture Museum; and the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum.

Alongside his artistic practice, he has written regularly for various newspapers and magazines. His published books include Raater Kotha: Ek Chitrakarer Bhavna (2008) and Ek Dozen Cinema-Galpa (2024).
