Mandira Mazumder

Mandira Mazumder was a Senior Secondary English teacher. She also served as a guest lecturer at the college and university level while contributing to the US magazine Ezine between 2013 and 2017. She was honoured with an Expert Author certificate.

Her debut book, Even Caged Birds Sing, was published in 2020 and earned her a discerning readership at home and abroad. This book explored the independent voices of Indian women of the 1980s and 1990s, and their journey of self- evolution amidst life’s struggles. It received wide appreciation in literary circles.

Her Untamed Soul (2021) received critical acclaim for its gripping portrayal of crime, legal suspense, and the socio-political realities of rural Tamil Nadu.

Phoenix presents a finely edited and condensed edition of the previous novel in a single volume.

In 2022, the author was honoured with a Literary Award by a New Delhi author’s association for her strong portrayal of women’s voices in Indian Literature.

Mandira is the first Indian author in English to explore pure Gothic mystery horror, weaving together the dark psyche of the human mind, crime, and the paranormal against the haunting backdrop of postcolonial India. Her work reflects the shadows that lingered through decades before evolving into the identity of modern Bharat.
