Soumitra Chatterjee (19 Jan 1935 – 15 Nov 2020) is a cinema actor of the highest calibre who also went on to become a star. Debuting in Satyajit Ray’s Apur Sansar in 1959, Soumitra acted in 14 of Ray’s films and in approximately 300 films overall till 2020.

Throughout his career Soumitra bagged numerous national awards including the National Award for Best Actor, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Padma Bhushan along with international ones e.g., Officier des Arts et Metiers and Legion of Honour awarded by the French Government.

Soumitra Chatterjee was a complete artist. Not only a cinema actor, but he also spread out his wings to the other forms of art including theatre, poetry, essays, elocution, and painting.

This Collector’s Edition calendar looks at some of the most versatile roles of Soumitra Chatterjee over each of these six decades.
